Reflection seismic imaging to unravel subsurface geological structures of the Zinkgruvan mining area, central Sweden

• Reflection data image complex ore-bearing horizon. Mixed recording sensors and setup were instrumental for deep imaging. Interpretation benefited from well-log geological constraints. Cost-effective targeting is possible in the Bergslagen district. The Zinkgruvan mining area located on south-eastern part of district, one three major mineral producing regions Sweden. In this study, we present results (P1, P2 P8) reflection seismic profiles each approximately 3000 m-long crossing Zn-Pb-Ag-(Cu) area. P1 was acquired using cabled geophones with 10 m receiver source interval crossed features. other two (P2 by wireless recorders 20 ran perpendicular to P1. Through a special processing workflow adapted dataset, good quality sections obtained along these profiles, although high noise level due voltage electric power lines present. interpretations constrained (1) P-wave velocity density series downhole logging measurements, (2) 3D forward traveltime modelling both pre- post-stack domains, (3) geophysical observations available site. Despite notably geology, processed clearly reveal horizontal gently dipping reflections associated known formations.
